Hamsi. For centuries fishermen have spread their nets for the annual catch of Hamsi (Anchovy) the tiny prize of the Black Sea. As a consequence of pollution and suicidal over fishing, the livelihoods of many of the fishing communities are threatened. The waters are almost 90% sterile and many of the 130 species of fish that once thrived in its have completely disappeared. |
